For this project we were to select an area in a former high school to revive and repurpose. In my research I found a need for Day Centres for people with Dementia.

Concept: “Throughout history oak trees have been seen as either "the tree of life” or a symbol of wisdom. Oak Adult Day Centre will represent exactly this. It will be a space for dementia patients to be while their caregivers are in need of a period of respite. The facility will promote active minds and bodies to help decrease the progression of their dementia. Much like tree rings are used to tell age, users will continue to age but decrease the progression of their condition. Oak tree rings can also represent pattern and its importance to dementia patients, while also incorporating the benefits of biophilic design into the day centre”
